Westland Youth Assistance

Mentors meet weekly for 1 - 2 hours with youth and discuss mutually agreed-upon goals including behavior, school, relationships, and recreational. Mentors are encouraged to avoid noisy, distracting locations for mentor meetings in order to allow for maximum concentration and lack of distractions; also mentors are discouraged from spending money on their mentees. The purpose is to establish a trusting, honest relationship between the mentee and the mentor.

The program is limited to youths in the city of Westland, aged 9-16.
