Ways to Work is a unique financial program. This proven and innovative program grants short term, low-interest loans to working families with challenging credit histories.
All loans help with the purchase of a modestly priced used vehicle, help stabilize or improvement in employment situations, and assist with repairing credit rating. Financial Literacy training is offered to all families at no charge.
Offers loans of $500-$4000 to workers with poor credit. Borrowers are charged 8% interest and must repay within two years. Loans may be used for: repair or purchase of a used car; child care expenses to retain a job; home repairs; moving expenses including security deposits; purchase of appliances, furniture, a computer, or uniforms or tools required for employment.
Loans may NOT be used for: tuition/books, travel, taxes, medical expenses, fines, business expenses, utility payments, or delinquent debts.
Low-to-moderate income adults who have at least one legal dependent who lives in their household or with whom they are regularly involved; work at least 20 hours per week and have been employed for six months or longer in their current job; are United States citizens; live in Macomb, Oakland, or Wayne counties; and whose monthly disposable income meets program requirements.
