Launch Of The Detroit Education Network

Last Update: January 20th, 2012

The Detroit College Promise is excited to launch the Detroit Education Network.  The purpose is to create networking opportunities for those interested in promoting K-12 public education in Detroit.

They plan to hold quarterly lunch meetings for one hour, to briefly provide an opportunity to learn what other organizations are doing.  They will have 3-4 organizations give a 5 minute talk about what they are doing, and what they are looking for in a collaborative partner.  The emphasis is on K-12 education, because good public schools are an important factor when people decide whether to live in a community, and recognizing that having a strong Detroit is important to the future of the region.

With the talent and commitment of so many in the region, they can once again make Detroit a leader in public education, and an inspiration to other challenged school systems.  If you are an organization, and would like to get involved, call the Detroit College Promise at 248-646-3269 or email them at DetroitCollegePromise@gmail.com.  The first meeting is scheduled for January 24 at noon.  The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for April.
