  • Thousands of foster youth in Michigan want and need a mentor to help them find their way in life. One hour a week can make a big difference in their future.   • Volunteer your time or talents for the benefit of foster youth and families to SOCC or to another organization that serves these groups.
  • Request a volunteer speaker from our Speakers’ Bureau to provide expert training or a presentation to your school, civic group, faith community or community organization on issues facing foster youth and families in our community.
  • Donate to Save Our Children Coalition to make continuation of our mission possible.
  • Sign up to join our mailing list to receive our newsletter and email updates on issues affecting families and youth in foster care in our community.
  • Use GoodSearch and GoodShop while shopping online.
  • "Like" us on Facebook!
  • Attend a regional meeting of the Faith Communities Coalition on Foster Care in your region and encourage other faith communities and friends to join you.
  • Organize a donation drive to collect clothing, books, toys, computers, sports equipment, musical instruments and school supplies for area child placing agencies who serve youth and families in foster care.
  • Donate household items, kitchen supplies, linens, etc. for groups providing transitional housing for youth aging out of foster care.
  • Talk to community leaders and advocate for legislative change in your community.
  • Become a licensed foster parent!  Learn about and make contact with area foster agencies.
  • Donate goods or services such as dental or orthodontic services, music lessons, beds, school supplies through For the Seventh Generation to provide opportunities for foster children to not only survive, but to thrive at: http://www.fortheseventhgeneration.org/
  • Become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer, advocating for abused and neglected children and making sure that they do not get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish inappropriate group or foster homes at http://michigancasa.org/.
  • Adopt a child, or children, waiting and hoping for a forever family of their own at http://www.mare.org/.
